Procedures: Open the patched rom and play it. (You can read patching tutorial here.) Try clicking different buttons. Try to save and load. Then restart and select different things. At this point, just check that the game won't crash. No need to check the scripts yet.
After testing, please post your test result in the comment box. (In case you have problem posting your comment, you can email or pm Jewel instead.)

Opinion on Naming System
Procedures: If you don't have problem loading the patched game on your device, please continue playing. After naming your character, you will get to the preset events where you meet some guys and your first girl friend. You can try applying for different clubs or jobs to meet other friends. Also you can try to raise different parameters to meet different guys/girls. (You can restart your game from the beginning and choose different room in order to meet a different girlfriend.) Just play with it for a while and then post your opinion about the naming system here. What naming system do you prefer? .....................
a. First name before Last name (Ex. Kei Hazuki.)
b. Last name before First name (Ex. Hazuki Kei.)
c. It doesn't make different to me.
d. (Others)............................................
That's all I need for this first patch testing. You can continue playing the game. Many parts of the scripts are already translated. You don't have to pay much attention to the spelling/grammar/etc. yet. We will focus on the editing after we finalize the naming system first. ^_^
Thank you so much. <3

Any problems: No, it saves and loads well.
Naming System: I prefer Last Name before First Name, but I'm weird like that :P.
The patched verison doesn't work on my R4i. :S Am I doing something wrong? When I load the game it only displays a blank screen.

Any problems: none so far, I'm at the end of year one now and everything works just fine!
Naming: I aleady mentioned I'd prefer last name first and after playing I strongly recommend doing so. It just feels more fitting for the game.
I'd also like to suggest changing San, Chan etc to -san, -chan etc... it looks better imo and it's how US publishers do it too... some of the nicknames seemed not that well chosen to me either, like Big Bro / Sis, I'd rather keep Nii-san/Nee-san..... (I also missed the Ni-yan for Madoka XD) - the game uses Japanese honorifics in such certain manners that I think it's important to keep them untanslated.
Also, when talkig to Kei about why he models, there's a broken line break. You see the @@ but the text stays in that line and goes off screen.
Oh and didn't you change the kana font? I would have liked to see that..

Aah, I'm going to get addicted soon, haha.
(Agree with miruki on the honorifics, but perhaps there's not enough space?)

Any problem playing the patched ROM on your device?: No, everything worked wonderfully
What naming system do you prefer?: Personally I prefer First Name - Last Name. But I do not mind either way.
For the testers that couldn't get the patched rom to work, please wait for the next patches.
ReplyDeleteI'll try uploading different patch files for you to test soon. (Including the one with kana font changed, but you should only try it to get some idea but not to use it for translation checking. You'll get confusion between misspelled texts and the texts that look weird because of the font change.)
I'll post download links for different patches here then but I'll put them in password protected zip files and I'll send you the password via email/PM.
About the honorifics, I plan to discuss about that after we get conclusions about naming system first. But since someone already mentioned it, I'll post a new thread here, maybe tomorrow so we can share our opinions. ^^
A quick not on name length before I catch some sleep. ^_^

So far, so good! It's been playing well and it saves and load perfectly : )
As for the name wise, I'd prefer to have it the original, as in the japanese way. Therefore last name before first name. Keep you posted : )

After listening to the text and playing for a bit. Lastname Firstname would be more consistent as YOUR name is Last First. IMO it also flows on the ears better when listening to the guys introduce themselves.
Okay, thanks everyone. So far we have problem on R4DSi then.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to organize something and decide how to upload the next patches for you to test later. (Intended to do this today but couldn't find the time yet. Please wait a bit. :D)

I like how they put it last name then first name. Makes the game more . . . japanese lol i like that - to stick with their culture because it wouldn't feel right :)

No, everything works fine except some english dialog is worded a little weird, but I'm assuming someone will work on that for the final.
